MICR cheques came in to being as early as 1956 in USA and subsequently introduced in all the countries world over since 1963. It is specially designed and printed to enable and expedite the processing of them. This magnetic ink character enables the system to read the amount mentioned in the bottom of the cheques adjoining the serial number.Printing of the paper cheque is done with a different font size at the bottom and the magnetic ink is used. Mostly these cheques are used in the national clearing where they are processed by machines to expedite the process.
